A doorman at Solid Gold was concerned when he saw 23- year-old Rebecca Durys leave the club, get into a vehicle and drive away on March 22, a Sudbury court heard.
He thought she was intoxicated, so he called police, who found Durys driving in the area near the Falconbridge Road establishment, said assistant Crown attorney Philip Zylberberg.
Police followed Durys' vehicle to her residence. Officers approached her, but she refused to get out, Zylberberg said.
Police pulled her, as she was kicking and hitting them, from the vehicle.
She was arrested and taken to the police station. She refused to leave the cell so a breath test could be taken, Zylberberg said.
She was charged with a number of offences, among them refusing to provide a breath sample and assaulting a peace officer.
Durys pleaded guilty in a Sudbury court on Wednesday to impaired driving. The Crown withdrew the other charges.
Her lawyer said she had been experiencing personal problems at the time and was at the bar looking for a friend. He said it was "highly unusual behaviour" for the woman.
"She wants to put this behind her," he said.
The Crown and defence were asking Ontario Court Justice Guy Mahaffy to fine Durys $1,800, place her on probation for 12 months and prohibit her from driving for one year.
Mahaffy thought the fine was too stiff for the crime.
"I really can't see that probation is necessary here," Mahaffy said, adding it was "obviously an isolated situation."
Mahaffy, instead, fined her $1,000 and prohibited her from driving for 18 months.
