PRLog (Press Release) – Jun 09, 2011 – Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Kathryn Hackett King, an attorney in the firm’s Phoenix office, has been awarded the “Consumer Litigator of the Year” award by the Volunteer Lawyers Program (VLP), a joint project of the Maricopa County Bar Association and Community Legal Services.
King received her award, honoring her pro bono service work, at a reception held in Phoenix on June 8, 2011. The award was presented by Chief Justice Rebecca White Berch and former Chief Justice Frank X. Gordon, Jr. The award ceremony also marked the VLP’s 30th anniversary. According to its website, the VLP has been uniting those in need with volunteer attorneys whose generous counsel gives thousands of Arizonans new hope for a better life.
“It is such an honor to be recognized by the Volunteer Lawyers Program for the pro bono work I have done in the community,” said King. “The program is very rewarding, not just for me, but also for people who might not otherwise have had a chance to receive legal representation.”
King's practice is concentrated in labor and employment litigation. She represents and counsels employers on all types of labor and employment matters. Her practice is focused primarily on federal and state labor and employment laws regarding discrimination, retaliation, harassment, wage and hour issues, employee leave, wrongful termination, business torts, misappropriation of trade secrets, non-competition/non-solicitation agreements, unfair labor practices and other employment matters. King received her J.D. from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and her B.A. from Duke University.
