Valley Forge, PA (MMD Newswire) June 10, 2011 - - The Chartwell Law Offices, LLP, has announced the addition of partners Thomas F. Reilly, Christopher J. Carlson and Joseph J. Hamill.
Chartwell was formed in 2002 by four lawyers. The firm, now comprised of more than 70 lawyers, has Pennsylvania offices in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Scranton, Valley Forge, and Philadelphia. In the last two years, the firm has opened offices in New York City, New Jersey, Wilmington, Delaware and Miami, Florida. Much of the firm's growth is attributable to the addition of lateral partners.
Joining the firm's Philadelphia office is veteran trial lawyer Thomas Reilly. Mr. Reilly was a founding partner of Gallagher Reilly & Lachat until he joined Swartz Campbell in 2000. He graduated from St. Joseph's Preparatory School, St. Joseph's University and Temple University School of Law. Mr. Reilly primarily handles serious injury cases for insurers and self-insureds, and commercial litigation for private industry. His cases typically are in the areas of products liability, construction accidents, commercial premises liability, dram shop liability, and commercial vehicular liability. He is certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, an organization accredited by the American Bar Association and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mr. Reilly has served as a Judge Pro Tempore since 2000 in the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas. He has been named as a "Super Lawyer" by Philadelphia Magazine every year since 2006. Joining Chartwell's Philadelphia office with Mr. Reilly is Allan Scholler, who worked as an associate with Reilly at Swartz Campbell. He will continue in that role at Chartwell.
Christopher Carlson, previously a partner at Cipriani & Werner, has joined Chartwell's Moorestown, NJ office. Mr. Carlson focuses his practice on the defense of New Jersey and Pennsylvania personal injury matters on behalf of insurance companies, self-insured entities and third party administrators, in the fields of premises liability, catastrophic injury, tractor trailer, motor vehicle, product liability and construction claims. Mr. Carlson is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. This designation, held by less than 2% of New Jersey attorneys, requires a rigorous application process demonstrating trial experience, peer and judicial references, passage of a written examination, and continuing legal education. Joining Mr. Carlson in Chartwell's Moorestown office are associates Francine Dimter and Laura Beth Braswell.
Joe Hamill joined Chartwell's Philadelphia office from Spector, Gadon and Rosen. Mr. Hamill practices primarily in aviation, employment, products liability, construction and commercial litigation. Furthermore, he has significant general defense experience representing retailers and hotel management companies in litigation in the mid-Atlantic region. He also serves as general counsel to several local businesses.In addition, he serves as a settlement master in thePhiladelphia Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Hamill is a graduate of Northwestern University and Boston University School of Law and is licensed in Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts.
Over the last two years, Chartwell has attracted multiple lateral partners from six different firms. "A lot of lawyers at established firms are looking for a more progressive and accommodating firm.
