CdM's Ryan Park Gets a Kiss on "The Bachelorette" - Newport Beach, CA Patch

It was a one-two punch Monday night for CdM's own Bachelor, Ryan Park, who received not only his first kiss from Bachelorette Ashley Hebert, but also the hard-to-get group date rose.

Lucky for us, CdM Ryan, 31, had lots of face time in this episode. Although he didn't yet get an individual date, he shined in the group date.

Jeffrey Ross, comedian and Roaster extraordinaire, hosted a Roast for Ashley at the Comedy Store in L.A. Bachelors had to roast Ashley with jokes directed at her and the bachelors. The boys worked hard before the show to polish their jokes.

"Other people allow you to roast them once they love you back," said CdM Ryan. "The concern sets in, how are we going to roast Ashley and make this OK? Crossing the line is a dangerous thing."

Peer pressure was heating up the room as Bachelors Ames, 31,  and Blake, 27, tried to recruit CdM Ryan to join them in jabbing Ashley with jokes. "No way I'm saying that. I want a rose at the end of this," said CdM Ryan.

At the roast, our Ryan had class by not pointing his jokes at Ashley instead he went after Bentley. "Bentley, what was Ashley thinking during that last rose ceremony?"

Crickets.

Yes, no one laughed. Not even Ashley. Quickly CdM Ryan turned on himself: "Not funny," he said. At the confession camera he admitted his performance was a failure.

"I didn't insult Ashley, I didn't really insult anybody at that. I also didn't make anyone laugh," said CdM Ryan.

It's OK, Ryan. You are still the hottest Bachelor on the show. Laughing can be overrated sometimes. It was definitely an awkward moment for CdM Ryan, but his humble humility is what gives him character ... kind of like Eeyore (although, Eeyore was not the hottest creature in the 100 Acre Wood).

Last episode, you may remember, Ashley's best first date ever with William. His roast made Ashley cry as he joked he was expecting Emily to be waiting when he got out of the limo and he made fun of her small chest. Ashley went to the corner and cried.

"It was a very rocky roast. William definitely crossed the line," said CdM Ryan."When she really exposed how much she was hurt, it just made a sad situation devastating. People realized damage had been done."

Yes, you can take a shot for those tears too. Bonus!

I think Jeffrey Ross summed it up best at the roast: "Is this the Bachelorette or The Biggest Loser?"

At the post party, CdM Ryan saw his chance, "Can I steal you?" Ashley, vulnerable and sad, needed someone at that moment to comfort her.

"What can I do?" said CdM Ryan as he put his hand into hers. "Ashley, you are who I want here. Whatever those guys say, I'm just looking to spend more time with you."

Are you melting yet?

Melted!

CdM Ryan pulls in for the kiss. And not just any kiss, but a grab-the-back-of-the-head-kiss.

At the end of the group date Ashley had one rose to give out. Was she going to give it to Bentley whom she shared a quiet moment with before CdM Ryan? Bentley consoled her, not really, only because he wanted to beat out the other guys for the rose. "I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to mess up her head," said Bentley.

With the rose in her hand Ashley gave it to, "somebody that I feel is really genuine and he is so positive every time I sit down and talk to him. I'm just blown away by him. Ryan? Will you accept this rose?"

Take that Bentley! In your face! Bentley was shocked he did not get the rose.

Lucky for the millions of women watching this show, and some men too, Bentley Williams decided he could no longer carry on this performance of pretending to like Ashley, "These fools, these friggin' idiots believe me. They know I'm the front runner because they see my connection with Ashley. What they don't know is that I don't care for Ashley. I played everyone, something that's never been done before."

Bentley packs up his suitcases and goes to say goodbye to Ashley at Bachelorette Mansion. "Ashley looks like the ugly duckling to me," said Bentley. He began to stress about what he was going to say to her. "It's a trip. It's freaking in my head, I got to poop it out," said Bentley.

Ashley should have put on a swimsuit because she was now swimming in her tears. Bentley made up the story that he missed his daughter and had to go home but to not think of this as a final goodbye, but a "dot, dot, dot."

Before the Rose Ceremony, host Chris Harrison told Ashley, "That's such a guy thing to say 'dot, dot, dot'. If a guy really wants to be with you he will do everything to be with you."

(Where were you, Chris Harrison, during my last breakup?)

Harrison told Ashley that there "are no rules" and she could do what she wants. Ashley decided she was too depressed to hold a cocktail party, the one last chance the guys had to connect with Ashley before the Rose Ceremony.

Nerves were high because many knew they were in jeopardy of not getting a rose. "How you feelin'. You back there singing," William said to CdM Ryan who was standing behind him. "I'm going to enjoy the evening. I feel fine," said CdM Ryan who already had his rose and didn't need to sweat the Rose Ceremony.

"First thing, Jeff grabs her and walks outside. I'm wondering is he really taking this mask off or is he stealing one-on-one time with her," said CdM Ryan.

Jeff sat Ashley down and finally took off his mask. "Hi, I'm Jeff," he said. Kind of anti-climatic. I mean he was handsome, but not I-just-had-a-mask-on-for-two-episodes-and-you-are-lucky-I'm-finally-taking-this-off" handsome.

The first individual date went to Ben, a lawyer from New Orleans. She surprised Ben with a Flash Mob America, a large group of unsuspecting people who danced in public at an outdoor mall to the song "Like a G6" around them. Ashley's classic one liner, "Ben got flashed!" The group Far East Movement performed their hit Rocketeer live.

Other individual dates included J.P. in which they had a quiet night at Bachelorette Mansion. Ashley boasts that J.P. was a better kisser than Bentley. Hey? What is CdM Ryan? Chopped liver! Both Ben and J.P.  got Individual Date roses.

No Rose For You!

This week Ashley sent home Jeff, the masked man, and Chris, 25, from Illinois who does Sports Marketing.  Yes, she kept the bad joker William and gave him the very last rose.

Next week Ashley and her Bachelors go to Thailand. But there is trouble in paradise for CdM Ryan. It seems he is getting on the other Bachelor's nerves. "If there's one person grating on everyone it would be you," said Dentist Blake to Ryan. Bachelor Lucas Daniels tells Ashley, "He's a little bit different when he's with us and he's a little bit different when he's with you."

Jealousy?

The Bachelorette airs Mondays on ABC.
