Sidley Partner Ing Loong Yang Relocates to Hong Kong

HONG KONG--( BUSINESS WIRE )--International law firm Sidley Austin LLP has announced that Ing Loong Yang , an international arbitration partner based in Singapore, is relocating to the firm’s Hong Kong office. He will continue to serve as a Global Coordinator of the firm’s international arbitration practice. The practice is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., London, Brussels, Geneva, Hong Kong and Singapore offices.

“best U.S. law firm for international arbitration”

Thomas W. Albrecht , the firm’s Managing Partner for the Asia Pacific region, said, “Ing Loong has built a top-tier reputation as a key player in international arbitration matters. His wealth of talent and experience will be extremely beneficial as we continue to build our Greater China practice and serve a variety of clients throughout the Asia Pacific region.”

Mr. Yang regularly acts as Counsel in international arbitrations and cross-border litigation, particularly on matters in the Greater China region, as well as Southeast Asia. He regularly acts for corporate clients in international arbitrations and complex commercial litigation, ranging from shareholders’ disputes, investment disputes, joint venture disputes and technology licensing disputes, FCPA investigations and advises clients on compliance and regulatory issues, especially in the life sciences industry. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and an accredited mediator. He also serves on the panels of all the major arbitration institutions in Asia, such as the Singapore International Arbitration Center, the China International Economic & Trade Arbitration Commission, the Hong Kong International Arbitration Center and the Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration. He has also sat as arbitrator in arbitrations conducted under CIETAC Rules, HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules and SIAC Rules.

Mr. Yang’s admissions in England and Wales, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong enable him to advise clients on their international and multi-jurisdictional disputes. He is fluent in English and is a native speaker of Mandarin and several other Chinese dialects, including Cantonese, Chiu Chow and Fujianese. He also has a good working knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia.

“Given that my practice focuses on arbitrations with a Greater China element, it makes for better client service for me to relocate to Hong Kong so as to be closer and more accessible to our China-based and North Asian clients. Major PRC companies are now actively engaged in M&A and other commercial activities overseas and these generate potential arbitration work for the major arbitration centers in Asia, including Hong Kong and Singapore,” said Mr. Yang. “As a Hong Kong solicitor, I will be able to advise clients in spin-off litigations from Hong Kong-based arbitrations, enforcement of arbitral awards in Hong Kong and commercial litigation generally. At the same time, I will continue to work with and oversee the dispute resolution team in Singapore, and will therefore continue to service clients that have arbitrations in Singapore. Recently, I was with the SIAC in Mainland China meeting with Chinese companies and law firms.”
