A Chicago lawyer has accused his opponent's young, big-breasted assistant of distracting the jury in a small claims case and asked the judge that she sit away from the counsel's table in the courtroom.
"Personally, I like large breasts," Thomas Gooch reportedly told the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
"However, I object to somebody I don't think is a qualified paralegal sitting at the counsel table, when there's already two lawyers there, dressed in such a fashion as to call attention to herself."
He said his opponent had purposely seated the attractive woman at the attorney's table to call attention away from the "relevant proceedings." The case involves a used-car dispute.
The story, which made its way to MSNBC and The Telegraph in London this week, doesn't describe how 26-year-old Daniella Atencia dresses. In a wire picture, she's wearing an courtroom-appropriate jacket and a striped, button-up shirt (along with some funky, heavy-framed, Clark Kent glasses).
The woman's boss, Dmitry Feofanov, said his college-educated assistant has a "brilliant legal mind" and is "overqualified as a paralegal," according to the Telegraph. Feofanov, 53, also happens to be the woman's husband.
"Ms. Atencia is quite shocked at the tenor of comments pertaining to her physical appearance," he said. "She thinks the comments made about her have no place in the twenty-first century."
Atencia's opponent has asked the judge that she sit with the courtroom's audience to watch the case.
