The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce awarded William Miller the Premier Volunteer Award on Sept. 15 in recognition of his outstanding volunteer service, leadership positions, commitment to the chamber and special achievements. Miller retired in 1998 as regional sales manager for L.B. Foster Co. in San Francisco. He began his volunteer work for the chamber in 2000.

Dr. Jeffrey Davis has joined the team of ophthalmologists at Manatee Sarasota Eye Clinic. He completed his training in the cornea, external diseases and refractive surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern. During his residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School of Ophthalmology, he was selected as chief resident. Davis will serve patients at both of the clinic's offices in Bradenton and in Ellenton and Sun City Center.

Cindy Bosch, a nurse practitioner at the Aldrich Cardiovascular Institute off University Parkway in south Manatee County, has been designated a clinical lipid specialist by the Accreditation Council for Clinical Lipidology.

David Reali, a staff accountant at CS&L, has recently earned his certified public accountant license from the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants. To earn the license, applicants must graduate with a four-year degree in accounting, pass all four written parts of the CPA exam and demonstrate experience in public accounting. Reali graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and also earned his fifth year in accounting from USF.

Adrienne Koloski, of Sarasota, has become an independent consultant with Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company offering more than 60 easy-to-prepare foods. As an independent business owner, Koloski offers Tastefully Simple's food samples at home taste-testing parties.

The Sarasota County Bar Association Inc. has installed its officers and directors for 2010-11. They are: F. Scott Westheimer, president; Derek Byrd, president-elect; Alyssa Nohren, secretary; Kevin Bruning, treasurer; and directors Gwendolyn Braswell, Hunter Carroll, Nancy Cason, Douglas Cherry, John Chapman Jr., Keith DuBose, W.E. Chip Gaylor, Julie Horstkamp, Mark Zimmerman and Sherri Johnson, immediate past president. Jason Gaskill was installed as president of the Young Lawyers Division. Elected officers of the division are: Burton Romanoff, president-elect; Zachary Ross, secretary; Jessica Carroll, treasurer; and Anne Weintraub, immediate past president. Also serving on the board are directors Jennifer Grosso, Daniel Guarnieri, Jerilyn Reed, Steven Ledbetter, Ryan Owen, Nishit Patel, Lindsey Schneider and Drew Solnoki. Officers and directors for the newly formed South County Division were also sworn in. They are: W. Russell Snyder, president; Dorothy Korszen, president-elect; Steven Ledbetter, treasurer; Beth Waskom, secretary; and directors Phyllis Galen, Christine Robinson and Skip Berg.

Barbara Glanz, of Sarasota, received the "Legends – A Lifetime Achievement Award" in August at the Annual Veteran Speakers Retreat in Boiling Springs, Pa. Each honoree must have outstanding national/international stature and a minimum of 20 years as a professional speaker and have made unique contributions to the speaking profession. Glanz is one of 554 Certified Speaking Professionals worldwide. She was named one of the best keynote presenters in the July 2010 "Meetings & Conventions" magazine.

Walter Croskey has joined the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe as finance/human resources manager. He retired from the same position at the Asolo Theatre after working there from 2002 to 2009. Croskey has more than 20 years of experience as a senior financial manager, focusing on broad accounting, financial management and leadership. Among his responsibilities in his newly created position will be managing the budget, orchestrating financial and strategic planning and overseeing the annual audit.

Gavin Cain, landscape associate with Sarasota's Michael A. Gilkey Inc., has accepted the nomination as chairman of the 2010-11 Emerging Professionals Committee for the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. His responsibilities include advising the membership and staff on ASLA associate, student and student affiliate member programs and services, facilitating communication with emerging professional groups and promoting the benefits of membership.

Dr. Paul Macchi has joined Choice Diagnostic Imaging in Sarasota as medical director and chief radiologist. He is a board certified neuroradiologist with extensive experience in all areas of diagnostic radiology, including MRI, CT, digital mammography, ultrasound and plain film radiography.

Steve Queior, president of the Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce, was presented with the Leadership Award at Suncoast Workforce's annual meeting for his efforts to foster a business-friendly environment where jobs can be created and retained. Among his many projects, he led the successful effort to keep spring training baseball in Sarasota by signing the Orioles and was a key partner in winning voter approval of $36 million in funding for Sarasota County schools.

Dr. Harvey Mishner has added Jeanna Hepler, a certified nurse practitioner, to his medical practice in Lakewood Ranch . Hepler specializes in bioidentical hormone treatment and women's health issues.

Turner Tree and Landscape in Bradenton has promoted several members of its staff: Yvonne Grzegorczak, to accounting manager; Kathy Jessen, to staff accountant; and Sally Gorsuch, to administrative assistant to the chief executive officer.

Marcia Ryan, an employee of the Jefferson Center in Sarasota, has been named Social Service Coordinator of the Year in the State of Florida by the Florida Association of Homes & Services for the Elderly. She also received an Excellence in Service to Our Elders Award. The Jefferson Center provides affordable housing for more than 200 Sarasotans 62 and older.

Teri Hansen, president and chief executive officer of Gulf Coast Community Foundation, recently served as chairwoman of the Council on Foundations 2010 Fall Conference for Community Foundations. The conference, in Charlotte, N.C., brought together hundreds of philanthropic leaders, social innovators and policymakers from around the country.

At Ned Davis Research Inc. in Venice, Edward Clissold has been promoted to global equity strategist, a new position. In addition, Richard Wilkie is joining NDR as chief information officer, a newly expanded position. Clissold will manage NDR's global equity market product line. He has worked for the firm since 2002 as a senior global analyst. Wilkie has more than 18 years of experience in technology integration and applications development. He will lead all aspects of NDR's technology integration, applications development, security, distribution and IT infrastructure, and will establish and executive the firm's overall technical vision. Ned Davis Research is an independent financial research provider that serves institutional clients.

Jeb Mulock has been named senior vice president of ZNS Engineering, LC in Bradenton. He is a lifelong resident of Manatee County who serves on the board of the Foundation for Dreams. ZNS provides consulting engineering, land planning, surveying and environmental services to private and public clients.

The following people have joined the C12 Group, a Christian leadership development organization: Bill Merrill, of Icard, Merrill, Cullis, Timm, Furen & Ginsburg, PA; Will Nugent, of Bethel Farms; Jim Gay, of Jim Gay, CPA; Doug Canna, of Canna Investment Management; Mike Shafer, of Financial Service Associates; and Kevin Kasley, of Florida Aircraft Services.

The law firm of Farr, Farr, Emerich, Hackett and Carr, PA, has hired a new associate, George Williamson. Williamson received his law degree magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law and his Bachelor of Music cum laude in music business and entertainment industries from the University of Miami. He served as editor-in-chief of the University of Miami Inter-American Law Review, was selected as a Dean's Fellow in the school's Academic Achievement Program and was listed in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges" in 2010. Before joining Farr, Farr, Emerich, Williamson worked as a clerk to Judge Patricia Kelly of Florida's 2nd District Court of Appeal. He will practice civil litigation from the firm's Punta Gorda office.

Sarasota attorney Taso Milonas was recently appointed to the Directors Committee of the Florida Bar Tax Section and named assistant director of the Federal Tax Division. Milonas has practiced law since 1985, focusing principally on tax, business and estate planning.

Mark Zimmerman, of Zimmerman and Zimmerman, PA, has been selected as one of the 2010 Florida Super Lawyers. He practices primarily in the area of criminal defense. Zimmerman also was recently recertified by the Florida Bar as a board certified criminal trial lawyer. In addition, he was sworn in for the final year of a three-year term on the board of the Sarasota County Bar Association.

BankUnited has hired Sally Daisomont as vice president and branch manager, based in the office at 1058 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. She joins BankUnited from Regions Bank, where she most recently worked as a business banker. Before that, she was a private banker with Harris Bank. She has also worked at Liberty National Bank and AmSouth Bank.

The latest "Caregivers of the Month" at Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care are: Mary Kehrer, CNA, of Venice; Molly Laub, CNA, of Sarasota; and Dominique Saunders, CNA, of Bradenton. CPA Associates, a certified accounting firm in Sarasota and Bradenton, has hired Melodie Rich as a tax manager. Rich, a CPA, has 17 years of experience providing a wide range of individual and business tax services. She specializes in estate planning, including income tax planning for trusts and estates. She is past president of the Estate Planning Council of Manatee County Inc.

Suzanne Ellin, trust officer at Englewood Bank, was recently awarded the Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a nonprofit organization sponsored by the American Bankers Association. The CTFA is the premier designation for trust officers, ensuring fiduciary expertise in wealth management and trust services. Ellin is one of only 325 Florida trust officers who have earned the CTFA designation. Another is Englewood Bank colleague Paul Lioon, vice president of trust administration.

Kimberly McNeal has been hired as event sales manager at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton. She will be responsible for arranging special functions such as weddings, other private functions and business events. She comes to the club from the Field Club in Sarasota, where she served as membership and marketing director for four years.
