An amendment to the law on regional development restricting the use of public spaces will harm the rights of the homeless, and is "pointless, unreasonable and clashes with the constitution," a deputy of the green party Politics Can Be Different (LMP) told a new conference on Tuesday.
The homeless issue is not a criminal law problem and it should therefore not be criminalised, said Gabor Vago, adding the point of the amendment was to get homeless people out of the away so they disappear from the notice of the social support system.
The green party plans to submit its own amendment which states that public spaces belong to everybody, he said.
LMP also wants to ensure that housing is a basic constitutional right, Vago added.
