Man Killed in San Jose Hit-and-Run Accident

Rear-end crashes tend to lead to serious fallout that can include devastating injuries and fatalities.  When the driver who allegedly hits a vehicle from behind then flees the scene, making the situation a hit-and-run accident, the fallout only becomes more serious for everyone involved.  Tragically, that appears to be the case with a San Jose car accident that occurred early on Saturday morning that killed a motorist.  The driver in the other vehicle fled the scene and police are searching for this person.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the latest fatal San Jose car accident occurred just after 1 a.m. on Saturday when 43-year-old Javier Santacruz Orozco was driving his Saturn on the southbound I-680 near the exit ramp at Highway 101.  As this was happening, someone driving a Honda came up from behind the Saturn and rammed it, causing it to flip and roll over.  The driver was killed as a result of the crash, and the driver of the Honda left the vehicle on the ramp and fled on foot.

California Car Accident Statistics

First and foremost, our condolences go out to the family and friends of the driver who was killed.  To lose a life because of this type of recklessness on the part of another person is truly senseless.  In addition, this San Jose car accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding California car accidents.  Every year, approximately 175,000 people are injured and another 3,000 people are killed in these occurrences.

California Wrongful Death Lawyers

While hit-and-run accidents always lead to delays in the administration of justice, it's possible that the driver in this San Jose hit-and-run crash will be found quickly since the car was left at the scene.  However, if the vehicle was stolen that could lead to more difficulties.  If or when the driver is found, it's possible that the family of the man who was killed could file a California wrongful death lawsuit that, if successful, would award them with damages that compensate them for funeral, burial and medical expenses as well as lost income and loss of companionship.
